Moving to a new home and/or area is a key life change so being aware of the sustainable transport options available can help to reduce the number of single occupancy car trips for journeys that could be made by alternative modes.
In 2018/19 we worked with new developments in the Scarborough area to help residents consider more sustainable and healthier alternatives to the car for their regular journeys including walking, cycling and public transport.
We made door-to-door engagements with residents to see if we can help them with their travel choices; providing travel maps and information to help make their journeys easier.
Residents at Middle Deepdale, High Mill Farm, Hinderwell Court and The Beeches (West Ayton) were given with site specific Sustainable Travel Information Packs providing them with tailored information on walking, cycling and public transport options in their area, as well as a personalised journey plan. Residents were also able to access public transport taster tickets, cycle training and bike maintenance.
